Morzine Mountain Bike Holiday - The Resort
In summer the Portes du Soleil region (12 French and Swiss resorts with 650 kilometres of skiing) transforms into a mountain bike playground for long sporty treks or shorter family rides. The 500 km of signposted routes and the 23 ski lifts open means that the tour of the Portes du Soleil can be accomplished in a day.
X-country enthusiasts will find all the conditions they long for: long descents of all grades through Alpine meadows, forests, fording rivers - highlighting the diversity of the countryside here.
From Morzine, the Pleney and Super Morzine gondola lifts give easy uplift - just put your bike on and up you go - to signposted routes for all levels. However, this is not reserved for super fit athletes; a mountain bike ride can easily end up as a picnic & sunbathing in the middle of an Alpine meadow.
Pleney's permanent downhill run has already become a favourite with a large number of professional mountain bikers: from the French international riders of the Avalanche Cup to the Free Raid Classic riders. Accessed via the Pleney gondola lift, this permanent downhill run is both fun and technical. It descends over a distance of 3250 m with a total vertical drop of 560m. Open to all, there are detours that miss out the hardest parts, making the run possible for most riders
